What we know now about Jordan Love’s leg injury

Jordan Love’s leg injury, which happened during the final seconds of the Green Bay Packers’ Friday night loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Brazil, may only keep him out of NFL action for a few weeks.
According to reports from multiple NFL insiders, Love is believed to have suffered an MCL sprain and could return to the starting lineup in less than a month.
“My understanding is Jordan Love has between a Grade 1 and Grade 2 MCL sprain, which means he’ll miss a few weeks but not extended time,” wrote NFL Network national insider Ian Rapoport on X.
As of 2:15 p.m. MDT on Saturday, the Packers had not issued an injury update.
Love’s injury came with six seconds left in the Packers’ game.
Love, who went from Utah State to the NFL, ended up writhing in pain on the field as he attempted to orchestrate a game-winning touchdown drive. The Packers were down by five to the Eagles and had under a minute to get about 85 yards down the field and score.
The drive started out well with a 33-yard pass from Love to Jayden Reed, but on the next play, Love was wrapped up as he attempted to get a pass off.
He was able to toss the ball back to running back Josh Jacobs to keep the play alive, but he was clearly in serious pain. Love was quickly surrounded by Packers coaches and staff members, although he was able to bear his own weight with his arms around Jacobs and a trainer as he walked off the field.
Love sat stoney-faced on the bench as backup quarterback Malik Willis tried — and failed — to make a Hail Mary pass.
The Packers lost to the Eagles, 34-29.
When asked about Love’s injury after the game, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said he didn’t know yet, per NFL.com.
Saturday morning, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network posted on X that “initial tests indicated Jordan Love’s ACL is intact.”
He later noted that Willis is currently the only healthy quarterback on the Packers’ 53-man roster. Quarterback Sean Clifford, who took second-team reps for much of the preseason, is on the practice squad.
